The reservations are made and the invites sent out so I don’t think it gets any more official than that!

We are excited to announce our first (hopefully annual) Rat City Rags holiday party at Big Al Brewing: December 5th from 5pm-10pm! Come meet some new friends and indulge in fine local brews and holiday spirits with us. You can also browse our wares if you’d like to mark a few gifts off your list in the process.

Expect great conversation and chances to win some handmade goods from RCR!

Nothing is required to join us but if you’d like to bring some holiday snacks or a bottle of wine to share, we wouldn’t object. We only ask that you don’t bring in outside beer as we want to support our hosts at Big Al’s. We hope to see you all there and look forward to starting the holiday season amongst friends, both old and new!

Cheers!

I often drive through the Greenbridge neighborhood, which is just a couple of blocks from my home. Several weeks back I noticed a nice logo in one of the retail windows with a clever name, Dubsea Coffee- a playful interpretation of a neighborhood nickname, the W.C.

I’ve been wondering when I would get a chance to try out this new coffee venture and according to White Center Now I won’t have to wait much longer. Their grand opening will be this weekend, with hours 7am-7pm both Saturday and Sunday. Their mission statement is surely one that we can all support:

Sibelle plans for her coffee shop to be not just a place to get espresso, but also a place to enjoy local art — with a local artist serving as Dubsea’s curator — and a place for youth to gather in a safe space.

All this with values that nurture my inner locavore, according to West Seattle Herald, the menu is focused on sustainability:

Dubsea Coffee will serve organic and direct trade (even more socially responsible than fair trade) Stumptown coffee, organic Rishi teas, hot chocolate and chai. A variety of baked goods from Little Rae’s Bakery, Macrina Bakery & Café, and High Five Pies will be featured as well as breakfast items including bagels, granola, and yogurt. Sandwiches and Boylan sodas will also be offered.

“Stumptown looks to source and roast the best quality coffee in a socially and environmentally responsible way,” said Luke Dirks, sales and wholesale account manager at Stumptown Coffee. “We’re delighted to provide our products to Dubsea Coffee, which embodies an enviable business model: It’s an approachable café where fabulous, high quality drinks will be served, and it’s a place that will create a lasting, uplifting impact in its local community.”

Support local business, art and our community!
